🌩️ Changes are not synced to other devices via iCloud
Note
iCloud syncing is handled entirely by macOS and iOS on a System level. Whenever you add or modify a word, or when you do a quiz, your changes and progress are automatically synced in the background. When you make large changes, like importing word lists, or when you set up a new device, it can take a few minutes for changes to propagate across all your devices.
✅ Syncing Checklist
If your words or progress are not synced to other devices correctly, please try the following steps to resolve it:
- ✈️ Double check you are connected to the Internet and flight mode is off
- 🪫 Make sure you are not in low power / energy saving mode, because the system might pause iCloud syncing
- ⛅️ You need to be connected to the same iCloud account on all your devices, and Wokabulary must have permission to access iCloud. You can check for both in
System Settings → iCloud
- 🖇️ In Wokabulary, double-check in
Settings → Languages
that you don’t have two vocabularies with the same language combination. While you can have two vocabularies with the same language combination, they will not sync with each other. In this case, you might want to delete or rename one of the two languages. - 🔀 Make sure that you have selected the exact same vocabulary (language combination) on all devices. Direction matters. For example, “French — German” is not the same as “German — English” and they won't be synced with each other.
⌚️ Apple Watch
Because watchOS tries to save energy, syncing to the Apple Watch can take longer than on other devices. Often the syncing is paused when Wokabulary is in background. To speed up syncing, it helps to keep Wokabulary open and active for a while.
